A man was killed and 14 policemen were injured as a covered van turned turtle and a microbus plunged into a roadside ditch in an accident at Chuknagar Nornia on the Khulna-Satkhira road in Dumuria upazila on Tuesday morning.The identity of the deceased could not be ascertained immediately.
Officer-in-charge of Dumuria Police Station Moshiar Rahman said a police team, led by Assistant Superintendent of Police Ehtashamul Haque, chased off a covered van on the Khulna-Satkhira road.
When the two vehicles reached Chuknagar Nornia, the covered van turned turtle around 6am, leaving the driver of the van dead on the spot.
At that time, the microbus carrying policemen also plunged into a roadside ditch when 14 policemen, including ASP Ehtashamul received injuries, the OC added.
The injured were whisked off to Khulna Medical College Hospital.
