19th Rainbow Film Festival ends in London

The nineteenth edition of the Rainbow Film Festival ended at Rich Mix Centre, East London, UK on July 22.Rainbow Film Society, the organiser of Dhaka International Film Festival has been active in UK as well. The society itself was  established in London in 1991.In the span of twenty-seven years it has organised nineteen international film festivals under the titled “Rainbow Film Festival.” The festival runs with the same slogan as Dhaka International Film Festival-Better Film, Better Audience and Better Society.
Victoria Obaze, councillor of Tower Hamlets; Mostafa Kamal, festival director and Rainbow Film Society secretary; jury board member Amita Shankar were present at the closing ceremony. The best film award went to Iranian film Untaken Path by Tahmineh Milani; best director award to Tauquir Ahmed for Haldaa and jury mention award to Bhuban Majhi directed by Fakhrul Arefin Khan. Bhuban Majhi was also screened on the closing day in the festival while Haldaa was screened on the opening day.
This year eighteen films from Bangladesh, India, Turkey, Algeria, Iran, Iceland, Russia and Britain took part in the festival. The eight-day long festival started on July 15.
