2 Demu trains launched from Parbatipur on trial basis

Bangladesh Railway (BR) on Thursday launched two Diesel Electric Multiple Unit (Demu) trains on Parbatipur-Lalmonirhat and Parbatipur-Thakurgaon routes on experimental basis.One Demu train left Parbatipur Railway Station at 10:25 am today and reached Lalmonirhat Railway Station in the afternoon. Another Demu train left Parbatipur Railway Station few minutes later for Thakurgaon.
Railway divisional manager Abdul Hai and divisional traffic superintendent Mustafizur Rahman traveled on the first train.
Railway sources said Railways Minister Mujibul Haque will formally launch the Demu train service soon on the two routes.
Each Demu train has the capacity to carry around 300 passengers. Earlier, on April 24 this year, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina launched Demu train service on Dhaka-Narayanganj route to make travel for passengers easier, fast and comfortable in a bid to reduce traffic congestion in south Dhaka. – bdnews24.com
