As many as 20,000 ordinary graduates will be developed as skilled human resources by December this year through world-class Information Technology (IT) trainings.
The training of 11,000 post graduate students of colleges and universities have already been completed while the training of 9,000 more is underway. This was revealed at a training workshop here today.
The workshop was jointly organized by Leveraging ICT for Growth, Employment and Governance (LICT) Project of Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) of ICT Division and UK based Ernst and Young (EY) at the Government Nazimuddin College, Madaripur.
Chaired by Principal of the college Nurul Haque Mian, the function was also addressed by Madaripur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md. Wahidul Islam, Project Management Specialist of LICT Project Sarker Abul Kalam Azad and Communication Specialist Ajit Kumar Sarkar, among others.
“Developing 21-century skilled human resources is one of the important components of the four pillars of Digital Bangladesh and the government is undertaking various initiatives to develop skill manpower in line with it,” Executive Director of BCC Swapan Kumar Sarker told the workshop.
He said a total of 30,000 skilled human resources will be developed under LICT project and EY has been appointed to provide world class IT training. Of the 30,000, some 20,000 post graduate students will get foundation training and 10,000 more will get Top UP IT training.
He called upon the students to take IT training and develop their career in IT for playing a role to build a digital Bangladesh as enshrined in the Vision 2021.
Azad said the government has undertaken steps to develop skilled human resources in IT aimed at building a knowledge based society.
Without practical knowledge in information technology, it would not be possible to build a knowledge based society, he added.
Ajit Kumar Sarkar said Digital Bangladesh is no more a dream, but a reality as the people of even remote rural areas have been brought under digital network.
Many services have been digitized and the people are getting hassle-free online services living in the villages, he added, reports BSS, Madaripur.
