27 Jamaat-Shibir activists held in Bogra

Police arrested 27  activists of Jamaat- Shibir in Bogra districts to Wednesday night. Uzzal Kumar Roy, assistant police super,B circle said , Jamaat-Shibir men were arrested as they tried to create sabotage during Jamaat’s 48-hour hartal. the accused of number of cases.They were sent to jail through court.Early winter  vegetables dearer in Bogra
Winter vegetables have started arriving in the market s much earlier,but are selling at higher prices, winter vegetables normally appear in the markets in early November . When bean cauliflower, cabbage and spinach ,are already available in the market. Farmers have cultivated hybrid tomatoes in large quantity in char lands in Sariakandi and Dhunot upozilas depart ment if agricultural extension officials informed. DAE source said 12700 hectares of land have been brought under vegetables cultivation in the district this year with a target to produce around 1.5 lake tones. Farmers have cultivated cabbage and cauliflowers on 7500 hectares of land they have already harvested cauliflowers from 250 hectares and cabbages from 480 hectares.Over 5000 peoples 200 villages are involved in cultivating and seling winter vegetables in the district. Arif Rahman a farmerof Fulbare village in Shariakande upozila said he cultivated cabbages on three bights of land and spent about tk 60,000 on seeding fertilizer irrigation and land rent. The hole sale market price of cabbages is between tk.20 and tk.25 per price. so he can make a profite  of tk.15.000 to tk.20.00 for farming on three bighas of land.Md abdus Sattar another farmer of Mahastangar village in Shibgang upozila said he spent about tk. 750 on cultivating cauliflower on the decimal of land and harvested 1.5 to 2 mounds of vegetables . The wholesale market price of cauliflower ranges between tk 1.800 and tk 2000 per mound and farmers can makes  tk 1250 to tk 1300 profit from a decimal of land. Large quantities of vegetables are being transported to Dhaka Chitagonge and major cities from bogra district .Some 8 to 10 tracks loaded with vegetables leave for the capitals and other cities from Mahastangare vegetables market every day. Chandi Das Kunda deputi director of DAE bogra said Shariakandy Sonatola, Sherpur,Sajahanpur,Gabtali,and Dhunot upazilas are femous for producting winter vegetables where yields are nuch higher. Bean is selling is tk 120 a kg tomato is tk 100 radish at tk 40 and spinach at tk 60 kg.A pair of small cauliflower s cost between tk 00and00while the price of two small cabbages ranges between tk.00and tk 00traders at different city market said yesterday. There is all ways  a good demand for winter vegetables during the earlywinter markets and traders do good business. “We are having a bit of a problem as the quality of winter vegetables is not that good to sell them at a premium” said Abu Bakar  a trader at the city s Fathe Ali kitchen market.Dupchanchia municipality roads in sorry state Md. Vehicles often get stuck in the deep potholes on the road.The roads are also often gridlocked since vehicles are forced to proceed slowly due to its dilapidated condition. Incessant rainfall during the season contributed aggravated the situation. Hundreds of potholes developed on the busy roads including upazila administration premises to mahila Degree College, from mail bus stand to Dhaphat from CO office to upazila hospital area. Passengers and students of the different educational institution fear the totally damaged roads may lead to fatal accident any moment. Joty a first year student of Dupchanchia mahila Degree College said no vehicles could travel on the roads due to rickety condition. Principal of mahila degree College Abdul Mazid alleges that negligence of the authorities concerned increased the suffering of people. Razzak Ali, a driver of a three wheeler said, “I find it hard to drive on the way with numerous potholes as it damages my vehicle.” “Especially Dhaphat road should be repaired as soon as possible as thousands of passengers have to go and come in hat day Thursday by this road.” He added. President of upazila Nagorik committee Abdul Bashed said to The New Nation, “The poor road-condition is hampering the traffic system in the area.” The mayor of the municipality Zahangir Alom should take early steps to repair the road.”
He added. To repair the roads Nagorik committee, anti corruption committee head of the different educational institutions arranged several conventions beside the Bogra-Naogaon high way but the common people don’t get any action. Later a memorandum placed before LGE ministry, deputy commissioner through upazila Nirbahi officer Saifur Rahman Khan.
