3 gas pipeline projects approved

The Cabinet Purchase Committee on Wednesday approved seven proposals, including the import of 50,000 metric tons of wheat.The approval came from a meeting of the Cabinet body held with Finance Minister AMA Muhith in the chair.

According to a tender proposal placed by the Food and Disaster Management Ministry, Olan International will supply the bulk wheat at a rate of US$ 311.45 per metric ton. The total cost of the wheat import will be Tk 124.54 crore.

The Cabinet body approved three proposals of the Energy Ministry on construction of gas transmission pipeline. As per the tender proposals of state-owned Gas Transmission Company Limited (GTCL), Castle Construction Ltd will build a gas pipeline from Ashuganj to Bakhrabad at a contract value of Tk 77.22 crore while India-based Punj Lloyd Co will construct river crossing portion of the pipeline at a contract value of Tk 39.94 crore.

Under Bibiyana–Dhanua Gas Transmission Pipeline project, the US-based Nears Group will construct a portion of river crossing pipeline at a contract value of US$ 14.13 million under Lot-1 and another portion under lot-2 at a cost of US$ 13.65 million.

The Cabinet body approved a variation proposal for raising the original cost of Kuril Flyover project by Tk 15.85 crore.

Water Resource Management Ministry’s proposal to excavate 3.3 km of Pungli River under its Buriganga River Recovery Project received the nod of the Cabinet body. Parisha Trade Systems Ltd will do the work at a contract value of Tk 23.34 crore.

Another proposal to excavate 5.1 km of the same river at another point of the river also received the go-ahead signal of the committee. The same firm will carry out the job at contract value of Tk 23.39 crore.UNB
