Dhaka, Nov 25 – A court here on Monday sentenced three members of banned militant outfit Jama’atulMujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) to death and four others to life term imprisonment for killing a man in 2012.
The condemned convicts are—Sanwar Hossain, Jahangir Alam of Nachole Upazila and Abdus Shukur of Gomostapur Upazila.
The lifers are—Shamsul Alam, Saiful Islam, Mohammad Shamim of Gomostapur Upazila and Abdul Motakabbir alias Bulbul of Manda Upazila in Naogaon district.
According to the prosecution, Ruhul Amin alias Salman, son of Asgar Ali, a resident of Dhanmondi area, was hacked to death by the convicts over an internal feud on April 26, 2012, at a mango orchard in Nachole Upazila.
A case was filed with Nachole Police Station. On August 29, 2015, police submitted charge-sheet against them.
After examining records and witnesses, Chapainawabganj Additional District and Sessions Judge Shawkat Ali handed down the verdict. – UNB
