3 of a corona victim’s family in Kishoreganj found positive

Three members of a family tested positive for coronavirus on Saturday after the death of one of the family members from the virus in Karimganj upazila.

“Three members of the family of Selim Mia tested positive for coronavirus while another was infected with the virus in Hossainpur upazila,” said Civil Surgeon Dr Mujibur Rahman at 3pm.

Altogether 34 samples from the district were sent to the Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) in Dhaka on April 9. Among those, four were tested positive, he added.

The Civil Surgeon also confirmed that the mother, brother and wife of first coronavirus victim of the district Selim Mia tested positive on Saturday, he added.

Selim Mia, a trader in Dhaka, died on April 6 at his village home with fever and breathing complications and later the sample tested from his body confirmed he died from the COVID-19 disease.

A total of 11 people tested positive for coronavirus in the district as of Saturday, he added.

On Friday, a sub-inspector of Bhairab Police Station in Kishoreganj tested positive for coronavirus.

Following the detection of the coronavirus, 15 colleagues of the police officer and five doctors were sent to institutional quarantine.

Besides, the local administration has cut the communications of the upazila with other parts of the country to prevent the transmission of coronavirus.

The district administration on Friday announced the district under lockdown and said it will be effective until further notice.
