36 pc Sailkupa people not under sanitation coverage

Thirty six percent people of Sailkupa upazila in Jhenidah are yet to
be covered under proper sanitation network, experts said at a
gathering of women participants jointly organised by Sailkupa upazila
administration and a non-government organization Bangladesh Rural
Advancement Committee (BRAC) at Sailkupa upazila parishad auditorium
on Sunday.A colourful rally organised on the occasion paraded through different
roads the town in the morning. The function was presided over by
upazila nirbahi officer Mohammad Ali Prince. Upazila parishad chairman
Nayeb Ali Jowardar attended as chief guest. Upazila women affairs
officer Reshma Khanam, assistant education officer Uttam Kumar Kundu,
Ramesh Chandra Barman, BRAC representative Safiqul Islam among others
spoke on the occasion.
About 30 women participants including government and non-government
staffs, students, teachers and journalists were present.
The experts expressed their concern about the information as about 36
percent people to be covered under the proper sanitation system. They
had given emphasis on raising consciousness among villagers.
