4-day border conference ends at Benapole

A four-day border conference between Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Indian Border Security Force (BSF) concluded at Benapole in Jessore on Saturday.The conference began in Rajshahi on Wednesday. BGB northwest region, Rangpur commander Brig Gen Firoj Rahim led a 17-member Bangladesh delegation to the conference while BSF south Bengal Frontier IG Sri Santosh Mehra led the 25-member Indian delegation.
BGB headquarters sources fruitful discussion was held on various issues including killing, injury and kidnapping of Bangladeshi nationals along frontiers by Indian BSF, trespass into Bangladeshi territory by BSF, construction works within 150 yards of International border by India and smuggling of illegal drugs, firearms and ammunition from.
The Bangladesh delegation included BGB southwest region Jessore commander, deputy director general of BGB headquarters (operation and training), sector commanders of the paramilitary force’s Kusthia,
Thakurgaon, Rangpur, Rajshahi, Khulna and Dinajpur, staff officers of the force and officials of home and foreign affairs ministries.
The Indian delegation included BSF North Bengal frontier IG, DIGs of sectors concerned, staff officers of BSF frontier and sector level and officials of the country’s home and foreign affairs ministries.
