400 Dhaka RMG workers fall sick due to hot spell

Dhaka, May 25 – At least 400 employees of several garment factories fell sick due to scorching heat at Konabari and Kashimpur in the Gazipur city on Thursday.Police said around 400 employees of eight garment factories in Kashimpur and Konabari areas fell sick due to the hot weather in the morning.
The authorities concerned of the factories took them to different hospitals and clinics in the area.
The garment factories have shut down a numner of factories for today following the incident.
Police were deployed in the area to avoid any untoward incident.
The whole of Bangladesh has been under a severe hot spell for about a fortnight, and has caused gastrtoenterities particularly among children, heat shock of people going out to work in the open.
The health authorities have advised people to take adequate water, avoid spicy and fried food to keep safe from heat-related ailments. GW Desk with UNB
