43 including 27 foreigners remanded for illegal VOIP business

A Dhaka court on Tuesday placed 43 persons, including 37 foreigners on remand in a case filed for their involvement with illegal VoIP trade.
Dhaka’s Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court Magistrate Rezaul Karim of passed the order on Tuesday afternoon, after hearing on the remand pleas of police.The CMM Court granted one day remand for Bangladeshi citizen Mozammel Hossain Rashed and a two-day remand each for the remaining 42 accused. Sub-inspector Mamunur Rahman produced the accused to the court seeking a seven-day remand each to quiz them about the sensational incident.
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) personnel detained 37 foreigners with huge quantity of Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) equipments, worth Taka 10 million.
All foreign people were detained from capital’s Uttara area around 9.15 pm on Monday. Of the detainees 32 are citizens of Taiwan,
five Chinese and the remaining six are Bangladeshis. The arrested Bangladeshi citizens are, Habibur Rahan, Kamrul Hasan, Mozammel Hossain Rashed, Habib Hossain, Helal Hossain and Jakir Hossain. It has been learnt that Mozammel is the owner of Bandhan Tours Travels, Habib is a driver and Kamrul is a caretaker. – Court Correspondent
