Dhaka, Sept 11 (UNB) – Biman Bangladesh Airlines added 4th Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, ‘Rajhanso’, to its fleet on Saturday.
The aircraft landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 4:40 pm after concluding a 15-hour journey from Seattle of the United States (US) starting 12pm (local time) on Friday, said Biman Manager (Public Relations) Tasmin Akhter.
Biman Managing Director Captain Farhat Hasan Jamil welcomed the aircraft with water salute in the afternoon.
The arrival of ‘Rajhanso’, which was scheduled to come here on Thursday, got delayed as Boeing, a US aircraft manufacturer, sought 48 hours more to deliver the aircraft.
With the inclusion of the new one, the number of aircraft of the national flag carrier has risen to 16.
Biman struck a deal with Boeing in 2008 to purchase 10 aircraft from it and has received all of them — four new Boeing 777-300ERs, two 737-800s and four 787-8 Dreamliner.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has chosen the names of four Dreamliner as ‘Akash Beena’, ‘Hansabalaka’, ‘Gangchil’ and ‘Rajhanso’.
Rajhanso has 271 seats — 24 of business class and 247 of economy.
