Dhaka – A court here on Tuesday convicted five people and sentenced them to life term imprisonment for killing a young man in 2005.The convicts are-Tapash Kumar, 30, son of Narayan Chandra of Shalgaria in Pabna in the district town, Imran Sheikh, 25, son of Ishak Ali Sheikh of Maligaccha village in Sadar upazila, Aminul Islam Mintu, 28, son of Abdul Jalil Dipu, Manik Chandra, 27, son of Anil Chandra and Sumon alias Ghetu Sumon, 30, son of Swapan Basak of Shalgaria area in the district town,UNB News Agency Reported.
The court also fined them Tk 5,000, in default, to suffer three months rigorous imprisonment more.According to the prosecution, police recovered the body of Jibon Kumar, son of Dulal Kumar of Shalgaria area, from near Pabna Government Edward College in Sadar upazila on January 26, 2005.Dulal Kumar filed a case with Sadar Police Station and police submitted charge sheet against seven people in the case.After examining the records and witnesses, Judge Liakat Ali Mollah of Pabna Special Judge Court handed down the verdict against five of the accused while acquitted two others as allegation brought against them could not be proved.
