5th BCL: East Zone pacer Jayed’s 5/37 restrict Central Zone 224/10

Dhaka – Islami Bank East Zone pace bowler Abu Jayed’s five-for debacle the Walton Central Zone’s batting-line restricting them at 224 runs in the1st innings on day one of the four-day-match Bangladesh Cricket league (BCL) at Shaheed Chandu Stadium, Bogra on Saturday.  In reply, opening the innings, East Zone managed 95/0 in 19 overs at stumps, trailing by 129 runs in the 1st innings.Liton Kumar Das and Mehedi Maruf were on batting in the opening stand scoring 60 and 32 runs respectively.In the day’s play, sent in to bat first, defending champion Central Zone played 65.2 overs for all on their 1st innings collection where skipper Mosharraf Hossain stayed for unbeaten 46 runs.On the way to five wickets haul, Jayed dismissed –Raqibul Hasan (19), Marshall Ayub (11), Shuvagata Hom (13), Mohammad Sharif (44) and Shahidul Islam (5) — for 37 runs in 15.2 overs.Ebadat Hossain and Saqlain Sajib took two wickets each for 42 and 43 runs respectively.In another league match at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, BCB North Zone collected 210 for 3 in 93 overs in day one against Prime Bank South Zone.Naeem Islam and Nasir Hossain were at stumps scoring 54 and 35 runs respectively.Opener-cum-skipper Jahurul Islam scored 65 while number-three batsman Farhad Hossain added 43 runs.North Zone elected to bat first after winning the toss.Ziaur Rahman, Sohag Gazi and Abdur Razzak took one wicket each for 28, 29 and 82 runs respectively for the South Zone.UNB
