6 boats of Rohingyas sent back to Myanmar

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members sent back six boats packed with Rohingyas to Myanmar, following their attempt to seek refuge in Bangladesh after escaping continued persecution of their community on Friday.Deputy commanding Officer of BGB-2 Battalion Major Abu Russell Siddequi said some 10-15 Rohingyas, who are not recognised as an ethnic group belonging to Myanmar by the country’s government, had been trying to enter Bangladesh crossing the river boundary formed by the Naf between the two countries through the Hila point in Teknaf upazila since Thursday evening.A BGB team obstructed them and eventually succeeded in ‘pushing’ them back to Myanmar, Major Siddequi said.
