6 petrol pumps,two other orgs fined for cheating people

Dhaka, Dec 24 – The Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) on Tuesday filed cases against eight organisations, including six petrol pumps, for cheating customers by filling their vehicles with less quantity of fuel and violating the Standards of Weights and Measures.Different mobile courts and surveillance teams of the BSTI launched the drives and also fined Tk 340,000 in Gazipur and Tangail districts on last Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, said a press release given by BSTI yesterday.
The BSTI surveillance team conducted drives against several filling stations and found that Didar Filling Station, SS Filling Station, Moonstar Filling Station and Vumi CNG and Filling Station in Gazipur area has been cheating customers by filling less fuel than expected.
The surveillance team also found Louhojong Filling Station, Sokhipur Filling Station, Jahid Traders and S Alam Traders in Tangail area has been cheating customers by filling less fuel than expected.
The team filed cases against the organisations under the Standards of Weights and Measures Act-2018.
Different mobile courts, led by executive magistrate of Gazipur district administration Md Harunur Rasid with Inspector Md Liakat Hossain, and a surveillance team of the BSTI, led by assistant director Md Monnaf Hosain, carried out the drives in those areas with Inspector Md Liakat Hossain and Md Billal Hossain. – Staff Reporter
