62pc boro harvested in haor region: DAE

DHAKA, 29: Farmers have so far harvested about 62 percent of their boro paddy while 14 percent is matured for harvesting in the country’s haor region, according to the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE).“About 62 percent boro paddy has already been harvested and 14 percent is matured for harvesting in the country’s haorareas. Besides, remaining 24
percent paddy is yet to ripen,” said an Agriculture Ministry press release quoting the data received from DAE.
The release added that Agriculture Minister Dr Md Abdur Razzaque will visit Dakshin Sunamganj, Taherpur and Sadar upazilas in Sunamganj district on Wednesday  to inspire farmers and labourers.
According the DAE, the boro crop was cultivated on 445,399 hectares of land this year in the haor region under Kishoreganj, Netrokona, Sunamganj,
Moulvibazar, Habiganj, Sylhet and Brahmanbaria districts.
Of them, crop of 2.74 lakh hectars of land has been harvested so far, which is estimated to be 62 percent of the total cultivation.
