Hasina inaugurates AL’s 20th council

Dhaka – Prime Minister and Awami League President inaugurated the 20th council the party at Suhrawardy Udyan on Saturday amid much enthusiasm of the party followers, UNB news agency reported.Sheikh Hasina arrived at the centre stage at 10:05 am and announced the inauguration at 10:13am after the presentation of the national anthem.
The announcement was followed by a cultural programme began with the presentation of this council’s theme song by a youthful ensemble.
A total of 6,570 councilors and 6,570 delegates are taking part in the council. Leaders of other political parties and representatives of various professions are also joined the inaugural session of the council.
Awami League general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam on said their party is now much stronger than any other time as conspiracies to annihilate it have gone in vain.
“Conspiracies had been hatched to annihilate Awami League. Thousands of its leaders were killed. But the efforts to destroy Awami League have failed. It had not been possible in the past to annihilate it and neither it would be possible in the future,” he said.
Ashraf, also the Public Administration Minister, said this while presenting the Report of General Secretary at the inaugural session of the 20th council of the party at historic Suhrawardy Udyan in the city.
Awami League is not only a political party, but it is also a name of feelings, said the ruling party leader adding, “The party liberated the country and always struggled for democracy. Awami League is not a conventional party.”
He went on, “There’re many political parties in the world. But the sacrifice of Awami League is incomparable. Our blood is pure and tested. If we’re united, there is no force in the world that can destroy Awami League.”
