Dhaka – Detectives arrested four suspected members of banned militant outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh from Daritana Bridge in Sadar upazila in Bagerhat early Thursday.The arrestees are: Morshed Alam, 20, son of Gias Uddin of Kadamtala, Saiful Islam, 36, son of Abdul Karim of Etagachha, Maksudur Rahman, 24, son of Jumman Ali of Garerkanda village of Satkhira district, and Jahurul Islam, 20, son of Ashraful Ali of Raghunathpur village in Pirojpur district.Superintendent of police Pankaj Chandra Ray said on secret information that a group was planning for sabotage, a team of the Detective Branch (DB) led by assistant superintendent of police Goutom Kumar Biswas conducted a drive at a tea stall of one Ansar Ali in the area around 12:30 am,UNB News Agency Reported.Sensing the presence of police, the militants hurled bombs towards them, prompting them to retaliate that triggered a gunfight.At one stage, the law enforcers arrested the four while their other accomplices managed to flee away.Two policemen were injured in the incident. Police also recovered one shooter gun, two rounds of bullets, four hand bombs, two sharp weapons and bomb making materials from the spot, added the SP.Four separate cases were filed in this connection.
