Now Sunny sued for ‘women repression’

Another case was filed against national cricketer Arafat Sunny and his mother Nargis Akter under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act by a woman who claims to be his wife.

The woman, Nasrin Sultana, filed the case with the court of Dhaka Women Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Court-4.

After recoding Nasrin’s statement, Judge SM Rezanur Rahman of the tribunal asked the officer-in-charge of Mohammadpur Police Station to submit a report on it after an investigation.

According to the statement, Sunny’s mother Nargis Akter along with some men beat Nasrin up on a road near Mohammadpur Police station. Later, she received treatment at Dhaka Diagnostic Centre, the statement added.

Earlier, on January 23, Nasrin Sultana, filed a case with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Raihanul Islam against Arafat Sunny and his mother on charge of demanding Tk 20 lakh as dowry.

A court placed the cricketer on a one-day remand, a few hours after his arrest from Aminbazar area in Savar upazila on January 22, in a case filed under the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act. Now he is in jail.
