Cricketer Sunny sent back to jail

Dhaka – The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka on Sunday sent cricketer Arafat Sunny to the jail rejecting the remand plea of police and a bail petition of the cricketer in a case filed for torturing a woman, who claimed to be his wife.Earlier, Mohammadpur Police Station’s police produced Sunny to the CMM Court seeking a seven-day remand while Magistrate Md Sarafuzzaman Ansari rejected the remand plea and also a bail petition of Arafat Sunny.
Sunny's lawyer Muraduzzaman moved the bail petition and also vehemently opposed the remand plea of the prosecution.
On February 1, Nasrin Sultana, a 21-year- aged woman, filed a case against Sunny and his mother with the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-4 of Dhaka on the charge of torturing the lady.
The cricketer was arrested on January 22 in the first case filed under the ICT Act, for posting offensive photo of Nasrin Sultana in a facebook account. – Special Correspondent
