Dhaka – Favorite Malaysia and China advanced to the final of the eight-nation round-2 matches of the Men’s Hockey World League eliminating their rivals in the semifinals at Moulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium here on Saturday.Tournament’s top seed Malaysia outplayed their close contender Egypt by 5-0 goals in the first semis while China earned a comfortable 5-1 goals victory over Oman in the 2nd semifinal this afternoon.In position deciding matches, Bangladesh crushed Sri Lanka by 9-0 goals while Ghana piled up 11-2 goals victory over lowly Fiji on the same day and same venue.UNB agencyMalaysia will play China in the final on Sunday at 4 pm while Egypt will face Oman in the 3rd place deciding match on the same day at 1:45 pm.Hosts Bangladesh, which failed to make a semifinal berth in the eight-nation meet losing to Oman 2-3 in a vital group match, will now play Ghana in the 5th place deciding match on Sunday at 11:30 am.Two lowly teams—Sri Lanka and Fiji—will meet each other in the 7th place deciding match, also on Sunday, at 9:15 am at the same venue.In the day’s match, Milan Hossain struck three field goals in the 11th, 32nd and 59th minutes, Mamunur Rahman Chayan scored twice from his favorite penalty corners in the very 1st and 24th minutes, Arshad Hossain also scored two field goals in the 49th and 58th minutes, Moinul Islam Kowshiq and skipper Rashel Mahmud Jimmy scored one each in the 46th and 56th minutes respectively for Bangladesh against Sri Lanka.Chayan opened the flood gate for Bangladesh in the very first minute from a penalty corner, taken by Jimmy and stopped by Sarwar (1-0).Milan doubled the margin in the 11th minute connecting a Jimmy pass (2-0), Chayan scored the 3rd goal in the 24th minute, also from a penalty corner off a Jimmy and Rana combination (3-0).Milan scored his 2nd and the 4th goal for Bangladesh in the 32nd minute connecting a pass from skipper Jimmy (4-0), Kowshiq further widen the Bangladesh margin in the 46th minute by a placing hit after dodging past opponent defender (5-0).Arshad again sounded the margin 49th minute connecting through pass of Kowshiq (6-0), captain Jimmy scored his first and the 7th goal for Bangladesh from a penalty corner, off Nayeem, Sarway and Chayan combination (7-0),Arshad scored the 8th goal in the 58th minute, off a combined attack of Milan, Farhad and Kowshiq (8-0) while Milan sealed the fate of the match few seconds before the final whistle off Kowshiq pass(9-0).Earlier, Bangladesh slipped from the semifinal as they finished 3rd in Pool A beating Fiji by 5-1 goals, conceded 2-3 goals defeat against their arch-rival Oman and suffered 0-3 goals defeat against favorite Malaysia.In the quarterfinal, Bangladesh conceded a 1-5 goals defeat against Egypt
