JU launches integrated library system ‘Koha’

Dhaka – Koha, the worldwide Open Source Integrated Library System (ILS), was launched at Jahangirnagar University (JU) on March 25.On Saturday morning, JU VC Prof. Dr. Farzana Islam inaugurated the ILS at a function as the chief guest, organised by ‘Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC)’, while Pro-VC Prof. Dr. Abul Hossain and Treasurer Prof. Dr. Abul Khair were present as the special guests.
Chaired by, Director of IQAC and teacher in-charge of JU central library Prof. Dr. Ajit Kumar Mojumder, noted speakers addressed the function.
The web-based open source software, ‘Koha’ features modules for circulation, cataloguing, acquisitions, patron management, networking of libraries and more. It offers centralization of seminar libraries with easy access along with strengthening library services.
Among others, Dean of Social Science Faculty Prof. Dr. Amir Hossain, Dy. Director of IQAC Prof. Dr. Shahedur Rashid and JU Proctor Tapon Kumar Shaha were present. – JU Correspondent
