Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) has taken up a programme to
set up 60 Transplanted (T)-Aman Demonstration blocks in the district
this season to help local farmers.
According to DAE office sources, six varieties of T-Aman demonstration
blocks are being set up in the district. The varieties are 20 blocks
on BINA-7 variety, 5 blocks on BRRI-34 variety, 5 blocks on BRRI-41
variety, 15 blocks on BRRI-51 variety and 15 blocks on BRRI-52
variety.
According to upazila wise break up of demonstration block is as
follows: 12 blocks in Jamalpur sadar upazila, 10 blocks in
Sarishabari, 10 blocks in Melandah, 7 blocks in Islampur, 7 blocks in
Dewanganj, 7 blocks in Madarganj and 7 blocks in Bakshiganj . Deputy
Director, DAE, Md Abul Kashem, said, 10 kilograms seed was distributed
each among farmer for cultivating T-Aman on one block consisting with
one acre of land free of cost.
Besides, under the programme 60 farmers were imparted training on
modern technology for cultivating T-Aman for boosting aman production
in the district, he added.
The official sources said, the farmers already prepared seed bed of
