Dhaka – Bangladesh women’s cricket team, now touring South Africa, will play their 2nd match of the five-match ODI series against their counterparts on Sunday at Senwes Cricket Stadium in Potchefstroom, South Africa.Earlier on Friday, Bangladesh women’s made a dismal start in the five-match ODI series after conceding a 106-run defeat against South African Women’s in the 1st ODI at the same venue.
The Tigresses made an encouraging start in the South Africa tour beating hosts North West Women’s team by 90-run in the lone warm-up match last Wednesday, featuring eight-wicket haul by Fahima Khatun and as well two centuries by captain Rumana Ahmed (not out 136) and Fargana Haque (not out 102).
Bangladesh will play their last three ODI matches on May 9, 11 and 14 before playing the three-match T20 series against the Proteas May 17,18 and 20.
Chasing a target of 271 in the first ODI on Friday, Bangladesh were all out for 164 in 49.3 overs despite Fargana Hoque hammering an unbeaten 69 off 146 balls, including five boundaries.
Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, South Africa scored 270 for 9 in 50 overs
Nahida Akter (2/22), Fahima Khatun (2/53) and experienced Jahanara Alam (2/62) equally shared six wickets while skipper Rumana Ahmed (1/38) and Salma Khatun (1/52) shared one wicket each for Bangladesh.
