Iranian Ambassador in Dhaka Hossein Aminian Tousi has said that what is happening in the domestic political scene of Bangladesh should be and certainly could be handled by the government, political parties and people of Bangladesh. “It is a domestic issue and I only wish this to get through successfully,” he told Dhaka Courier, a sister concern of UNB, in a recent interview. Ambassador Aminian Tousi said Iran is a traditional importer of jute from Bangladesh, and at present, Iranian traders are importing RMG products too. He said: “During the recent visit of the Minister of Trade, Industry and Mine of Islamic Republic of Iran to Bangladesh, it was announced that our private sector is ready to increase importation of RMG products from Bangladesh.” The envoy said exchange of a mixed delegation from public and private sector for further discussions is welcomed by the Iranian side to materialize this goal. Responding to a question, he said Iran has plenty of gas and crude oil resources and manpower experts with more than a century of experience in this field. “Constructing refineries, rehabilitation works on the operational refineries and also power plant construction is within our reach and can be contributed and rendered, if necessary.” Replying to another question, the Iranian ambassador said: “Anyhow, I think media in Bangladesh may play role to introduce the real picture about Islamic Republic of Iran through exchanges of information among news agencies, and also diversified cooperation plans within the mass media of both countries could be implemented.” – UNB
