Two persons, including a minor
boy, were electrocuted at different places in Mithapukur upazila
here on Thursday, police and locals said.
The victims were identified as Maruf, 8, a student of class
two and son of farmer Mamun Miah of village Chithlee Dakshin Para
and day-labourer Ershadul Haque, 28, son of Abdul Hamid of
village Bhagabatpur Kuthipara in the upazila.
Maruf was severely injured after being electrocuted while
setting up of an electric socket at their home on Thursday
evening.
He was rushed to Mithapukur Upazila Health Complex where he
later succumbed to his injuries despite hectic efforts of the
attending doctor.
Earlier, day-labourer Ershadul was critically injured when
caught by a torn electric cable in pond water in nearby village
Goyeshpur while he was trying to start a shallow machine for
irrigation purpose.
Local people immediately rushed there, rescued injured
Ershadul. But, he died on his way to Mithapukur Upazila Health
