4 get life term for killing in Netrakona

A court in Netrakona Wednesday sentenced four persons to suffer life
term imprisonment for killing a man at Rupchandrapur village under
Atpara upazila of the district in 2001.
Additional district and session Judge Netrakona Mohammad Abdul Hamid
pronounced the judgment in his crowded courtroom.
According to the court sources, the convicted persons are-Abdul Mazid,
Lalu Chowdhory, Dulu Mia and Abdur Rob. All of them are inhabitant of
the same area.
The prosecution story, in brief, is that Abdul Mazid had a conflict
with his son-in-law Tuta Mia over taking a loan amounting Taka 25,000.
Following the conflict, suddenly Tuta went missing and police
recovered his body on November 30, 2001 from Nolua Beel area and sent
it to Netrakona Sadar Hospital morgue.
The victim’s sister Kulsuma Begum filed a murder case with Atpara
police station against seven persons on December 3, 2001.
Police after investigation submitted charge sheet against the seven
persons to the court. Later, Judge Abdul Hamid after examining the
witnesses and evidences found the convicted persons guilty and handed
down the punishment, the court sources said.
The judge also acquitted two accused of the case as the killing charge
brought against them was not proved while another accused was
discharged from the case as he died during the trial period of the
