Month-long Hilsa festival begins in city

Oh! Calcutta, a Bengali cuisine restaurant here launched ‘The River Water Hilsa Festival’, a month-long fair, on Saturday promising to offer varieties of delicious dishes of hilsa.   “Bengalis are immensely passionate about hilsa and it is pretty evident with the sheer variety of recipes available on both sides of the border. But in times where traditional recipes are fast disappearing, bringing back the authentic flavors is our main goal, alongside creating innovative dishes for the changing palate “, said Subir Kumar Deb, Chef de Cuisine of Oh! Calcutta said.   Ashish Kejriwal, Managing director of Karishma Services Limited, the franchisee of Oh! Calcutta in Bangladesh said the festival will give the gourmands an opportunity to savor the diverse flavors of hilsa.   Meanwhile, All Credit and Debit cardholders of Standard Chartered Bank will enjoy an exclusive discount of 25 percent on any a-la-carte item available in Oh! Calcutta’s regular and specially catered menus for the hilsa festival, organizers told a press conference at the restaurant at Banani in the city.  – UNB
