A Union Parishad member and a local Swechchasebok League leader were
injured in an attack allegedly by some Jamaat-Shibir activists at
Dhopadanga intersection in Debhata upazila on Saturday night.
The victims were identified as Nazimuddin Gazi, a member of Shakhipur
UP in Debhata upazila and Akimuddin, of Pachpota village, a local
leader of Swechchasebok League.
Keramot Ali, officer-in-charge of Debhata Police Station, said a gang
of criminals swooped on Akimuddin and Nazimuddin at about 10:00pm when
they were returning home from Bhatshala Bazar and stabbed them with
sharp weapons, leaving them seriously injured.
The injured were rushed to Debhata Health Complex. -UNB, Satkhira
