Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in two separate drives
arrested five persons and seized ganja plants and phensidyl from their
possessions here on Wednesday, RAB and police sources said.
Members of RAB-5 from its Rangpur Camp conducted a sadden raid and
arrested ganja cultivator Golam Mostafa, 50, with three ganja plants
from Trimohani Dolepur area under Mithapukur upazila.
The elite force also arrested siblings Liyakat Ali Nadim, 38, and
Nizam Uddin, 32, with two ganja plants from their house in abandoned
rail line premises in Khamarpara area in Rangpur city.
All these arrested three persons were sentenced to different jail
terms when produced before separate mobile courts on the same day.
In another raid, the elite force arrested illegal drug trader couple
Badsha Miah, 37, and his wife Lucky Khatun, 30, with 30 bottles
smuggled phensidyl from Muslim Bazaar area under Mithapukur upazila.
After filing a case in this connection, the arrested couple was handed
