‘All-party Cabinet will be formed’

An all-party Cabinet will be formed with other parties if the BNP refuses to join, Home Minister Muhiuddin Khan Alamgir has said.

The election will be held under a government proposed by the Prime Minister, he told reporters in Chandpur’s Kochua on Friday.
“We have asked the BNP to join. If they do not, we will run the government with other parties,” he said.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Oct 18 proposed an all-party interim government to oversee the upcoming polls and asked the Opposition
party to take part in it.
Leader of the Opposition Khaleda Zia rejected the proposal, offering her own version of a poll-time government.
She has suggested putting together a government with the advisers of the past caretaker regimes formed in 1996 and 2001.
The BNP-led 18-Party opposition alliance has been pressing for non-party caretaker government to oversee the national polls.
The Home Minister said the government was determined to hold a free, fair and timely election in Bangladesh.
He described those trying to scuttle the process as enemies of democracy and country as well.
The government will resist them to protect the Constitution, he added.
Alamgir hoped the people would cooperate with the government in this endeavour.-bdnews24.com
