Trains between Dhaka and northern districts have finally resumed at 9.30am, after been disrupted for around six hours due to sabotage on the tracks at Shriramgari area in Iswardi today.
Railway officials and police blamed the strikers for the sabotage. Quite few trains had been stuck at different railway stations in Natore since Sunday morning.Rafiqul Islam, Chief Engineer of West Zone of Bangladesh Railway, here said miscreants had uprooted at least one and a half feet of track on
the Dhaka-Rajshahi Railway route between Ishwardi Bypass Station and Muladui Station.That led to huge disruptions of rail services in northern region, he said.Engineer Rafiqul said the Dhaka-Dinajpur ‘Ekota Express’, Dhaka-Rajshahi ‘Padma Express’ and the Rajshahi local trains have been stuck at the Muladuli Railway Station.He added that repairs started around 7am and the tracks were cleared for use finally and the trains started plying again at 9.30am. -BSS, Rajshahi
