Prabashi Kallyan Bank’s main branch opens helpline

The main branch of Probashi Kallyan Bank (PKB) was inaugurated at the
bank’s head office complex at Eskatan in the city on Monday.   Finance

guest while Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Engineer
Khandker Mosharraf Hossain as the special guest.
Managing Director of PKB CM Koyes Sami welcomed the distinguished
guests at the ceremony while Dr
Zafar Ahmed Khan, secretary of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment
Ministry, chaired the meeting.   A helpline (+8809666-752 777, +8809666-752
000) of the bank was also opened at the programme.   In welcome speech MD
and CEO of PKB CM Koyes Sami said by distributing loans at only nine
percent interest rate among the poor PKB fulfilled the desire of the poor
people who wanted to go abroad for work.   “Earlier, they had to go abroad
by receiving loans at 100- 120 percent interest rate, in some case at 150
percent rate, from the landlords and the poor people were compelled to
repay the loans by selling households and homesteads”, he said.   The PKB
MD said the bank is a partner of the government’s success in exporting
manpower.   To provide services to the non-resident Bangladeshis the bank
has opened 30 branches within last two years, he added. – UNB
