A cotton factory located at BSCIC state at Dhanghara area near the district town, was gutted in a fire Sunday morning.
According to sources the fire originated from an electric short circuit at around 7.30 am and soon engulfed the Nushrat Akter Jahan Cotton Factory of the estate and burnt the goods to ashes.
Receiving information, the fire fighters unit rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze after half an hour, said M. Moynul Islam, station officer, Fire Service and Civil Defence Gaibandha.
The loss caused by the fire could not be ascertained immediately, he said. -BSS, Gaibandha
