A local Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) leader was shot to death by unidentified miscreants in the district town on Monday evening. The deceased was identified as Kobir Hosain Palash, 30, vice-president of the district unit JCD and son of Mohitul Islam of Bholateng Road in the town. Officer-in-charge of Jessore Kotwali Police Station Imdadul Haque said two miscreants, riding on a motorcycle, shot Palash in the head at 6:35pm while he along with his some friends was taking tea at a shop in the Civil Court intersection. Later, the attackers fled the scene blasting several crude bombs that also left a JCD man, Rentu, injured. Palash was rushed to Jessore Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead. The JCD leader might have been killed following rivalry over trade, the OC added. – UNB
