TICI to get $5m Korean grant

The Korean development arm KOICA will provide $ 5 million grant for overhauling the apex training institute of Bangladesh’s chemical industries.
KOICA Resident Representative Kim Bok-Hee and Economic Relations Division Joint Secretary Mohammed Asif-uz-Zaman and Joint Chief of the Ministry of Industries Lutfor Rahman Tarafder signed a “Record of Discussion” in this regard on Tuesday at the ERD.According to the agreement, KOICA will establish a new academic building for Training Institute for Chemical Industries (TICI), “with necessary state of the art technology and equipment along with furniture to facilitate the training programmes”.
TICI provides technological training to the engineers and technical staffs of industries and related students.
Curriculum for the selected trades on Instruments and Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Computer and Information Technology, Industrial Safety and Health, Operation and Process Control and Analytical Chemistry and Environment Science will be developed with the help of Korean experts.
Twenty-eight instructors and officials of TICI would also receive advance training in Korea to attain, what KOICA in a media release said, required skill and knowledge under this project for imparting “better training” in Bangladesh. – bdnews24.com
