At least 10 vehicles were vandalised and a motorcycle was set ablaze by the miscreants at Palashbari upazila town in the district on Tuesday during the blockade.
Police said a number of Rangpur bound passenger buses and goods laden trucks got stranded on Rangpur-Bogra Highway at Komorpur area of the upazila on Tuesday morning during the countrywide blockade programme enforced by BNP led 18-party alliance.
At one stage, the drivers of the vehicles including the passengers requested the thana police to cross the upazila town safely.
The miscreants vandalised at least 10 buses and trucks at Sarker Filling Station area in the evening while the vehicles were passing through the town under police guard.
At that time, the miscreants also hurled brick chips at the law enforcers leaving sub inspector of police of the thana Abu Hasan injured.
Besides, the miscreants also set fire to a motorcycle of Apel Mahmud, son of Vice-Chairman of upazila parishad Anzuman Ara Begum, in front of Sathi Cinema Hall of the town at around 7 pm before stabbing him.
When contacted, officer in charge of Palashbari thana Nasir Uddin Mondal confirmed the vandalising and arson attack by the miscreants. -BSS, Gaibandha
