HT Imam warns of stern action against BNP

Dhaka – Co-chairman of Awami League election steering committee HT Imam on Friday warned the opposition of stern measures if it tries to

foil the January-5 general election.
“The harshest course of action will be taken against BNP, no matter how much harder programmes it chalks out to thwart the election,” he
said.
Imam issued the warning after a meeting of Awami League election steering committee at the party president’s Dhanmondi office.
“As a political party, BNP can choose not to join the polls, but their conspiracy for foiling the election is regrettable,” he said.
Criticising the opposition for enforcing a non-stop blockade programme, Imam said it seems that the BNP-Jamaat has announced a war
against an independent country.
Imam claimed that the country wears a look of election festivity as the candidates are conducting electioneering in their respective
constituencies.
He said though there will be no election in only five districts, the remaining districts will remain vibrant with election campaigns by
candidates.
The AL election steering committee co-chairman said they in groups will visit the entire country to gear up their party leaders and
activists and encourage voters to come to the polling centres.
He, however, said they will finalise their schedule for the visit within a day or two. – UNB
