Khaleda not under house arrest: Inu

BNP chief Khaleda Zia is not under house arrest, information minister Hasanul Haq Inu has said.

“Khaleda Zia is not under house arrest. A circular is needed to put someone under house arrest. She is free (to go anywhere) since, no circular has been issued,” Inu told reporters Wednesday at his party headquarters.
Opposition Leader Khaleda Zia had called for a ‘march to Dhaka’ and a rally for Sunday to thwart the Jan 5 polls.

Road, rail and waterways communications between Dhaka and rest of the country was snapped ahead of the proposed march and security forces tightened measures to stop opposition activists from gathering in the capital, apprehending large-scale violence.

Heavy security was also imposed around Khaleda’s Gulshan residence. Police had prevented the BNP chief on Sunday from her residence for Naya Paltan to attend the proposed rally. – bdnews24.com
