A schoolboy was killed on the spot when a human hauler hit him at Roipara area on Rajshahi-Durgapur road under Durgapur upazila of the district Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Nayeem Islam, 6, a student of class one of Roipara Government Primary School and son of Nurul Islam.
Quoting witnesses police said the student met the tragic end of his life when a human hauler hit him while he just appeared on the road from his school around 11.30 am. Nayeem was on his way home from school after taking new books before death.
In protest against the death, local people staged demonstration on the road and reportedly vandalized five vehicles including the human hauler and three motorbikes.
Being informed police rushed to the scene and brought the situation under control, said Saiful Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Durgapur Police Station. -BSS, Rajshahi
