Police arrested three persons Wednesday from Paltan area of the capital city accused of snatching and burning ballot boxes at Chanderchar Government Primary School polling centre under Sirajdikhan upazila in Munshiganj district.
The arrested were identified as Sirajdikhan upazila BNP Joint Secretary Md. Hyder Miah, 45, BNP activists Abdul Aziz, 38, and Faruq Hossain, 35.
Officer in-charge of Sirajdikhan thana Abul Bashar said the ballot boxes of 10th National Election of the polling centre were burnt after snatching on Sunday.
For this reason Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer ordered to postpone casting vote in the centre.
On Monday, a case was filed against 51 BNP leaders and activists and hundreds of unknowns persons with the thana, he added. -BSS, Munshiganj
