Quizzing of seven sr BNP leaders at jail gate ordered

A Dhaka court on Thursday rejected the bail petitions of six top BNP leaders in three cases and also refused remand pleas of police and asked police to interrogate the opposition leaders at the jail gate within seven days.
The leaders are BNP Standing Committee members MK Anwar, Barrister Moudud Ahmed and  Barrister Rafiqul Islam Mia, Joint Secretary General Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon, BNP Chairperson’s Adviser Abdul Awal Mintu and Special Assistant Advocat Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas.Dhaka’s Chief Mttaropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Mizanur Rahman rejected the remand sought by the police and asked them to question BNP leaders for seven days at jail gate, if necessary.
Police prayed 27 days’ remand to quiz BNP leaders in three cases filed with Motijheel Police
Station. Of the 27 days police wanted seven days to quiz the leaders in one case and 10 days’ each in two other cases.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Amit Kumar of the CMM Court also rejected the remand sought for BNP Vice Chairman and Dhaka City Convenor Sadeque Hossain Khoka in an arson case and asked police to question him at the jail gate within ten working days, if necessary. In this case also the concerned Investigation Officer (IO) sought a 10-day remand for Khoka. The court also refused his bail in the case.
This case was filed with Mohammadpur Police Station accusing the BNP leader of his involvement in burning a bus. – Court Correspondent
