BNP has formed four teams with professionals to investigate the incidents of repression on minorities, violence, human rights violation and killing and extrajudicial killing that occurred before, during and after the 10th parliamentary polls. BNP assistant office secretary Shamimur Rahman Shamim on Thursday told UNB that party chairperson Khaleda Zia constituted the probe committees after a meeting with pro-BNP professionals on Wednesday. He said the committee members will visit the affected areas and spots and talked to the local people. “They’ll also dig out how and when the incidents took place in the respective districts and who were responsible for those. After the extensive probes, they’ll submit separate reports with recommendations.” Party acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul approved the committees following the direction of the BNP chairperson, Shamim said. A committee was formed with party standing committee member Jamiruddin Sircar as its convener and advocate Sanaullah Miah as its member secretary to carry out investigations in Sirajganj, Bogra and Gaibandha districts. Another committee headed by BNP Chairperson’s adviser AFM Abdul Halim while Jatiya Press Club general secretary Syed Abdal Ahmed member secretary was assigned to conduct the probes in Nilphamari, Dinajpur and Thakurgaon districts. Bangladesh Sammilita Peshajibi Parishad convener Ruhul Amin Gazi was made convener and Jatiya Press Club organising secretary Kader Gani member secretary of another committee to probe the incidents in Satkhira, Jessore, Kushtia and Meherpur districts. Another committee led by BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s adviser Shawkat Mahmud was assigned to conduct extensive investigations in Comilla, Chandpur, Laxmipur and Chittagong districts. – UNB
