A Jubo Dal activist, who suffered injuries in an attack by miscreants in Sharishabari upazila on Sunday afternoon, died at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH) on Sunday night.
The deceased was identified as Sujan Khar, 30, a convener committee member of Bhatara union unit of Jubo Dal and son of Chan Mia of Bhatara village.
Officer-in-charge of Sharishabari Police Station Qamrul Ahsan said Sujan came under attack at Bausi Bazar around 5:00pm while returning home from a workers’ conference of Jubo Dal at Armannagar Bazar.Miscreants hit him in the head and hand with hammers and iron rods and also chopped him with sharp weapons, leaving him injured.Later, they left him beside a road at Dhabadah village in the upazila.Critically injured, Sujan was rushed to Jamalpur General Hospital by local people and later was shifted to Meymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH) around 9:30pm as his condition deteriorated.
Sujan succumbed to his injuries at the MMCH around 11:00pm, added the OC.Police were preparing to file a case. -UNB, Jamalpur
