A leader of the outlawed Purba Banglar Sarbahara Party was chopped to death by unknown miscreants at Kolapara village in Shibchar upazila early Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Shamim alias Pichhi Shamim, 32, a resident of the village.Family members said a group of 10/12 masked miscreants stormed the house of Shamim and chopped him indiscriminately after dragging him out of the house around 3:30am, leaving him critically injured.
He was rushed to Shibchar upazila health complex where doctors declared him dead around 6:00am.Shamim served four years’ imprisonment in a case for murder of two policemen.Masududdin, officer-in-charge of Shibchar Police Station, confirmed the incident. -UNB, Madaripur
