Ruling party lawmakers have termed the audio message of al-Qaeda chief Ayman al Zawahiri as a new conspiracy against the independence and sovereignty of the country.
Addressing the House on point of order on Sunday, they said the message of Zawahiri reflected the statements of BNP and Jamaat. The alleged that BNP, Jamaat and Hefazat-e-Islam people are involved with this conspiracy.The lawmakers demanded the government to find out the perpetrators and give them exemplary punishment. The lawmakers took part in the discussion a day after releasing the audio message of a Qaeda leader Zawahiri.
In the audio message, Zawahiri alleged that thousands of people are being killed in the streets of Bangladesh for protesting against a “collusion of the anti-Islam secular government” and invited people to “confront this crusader onslaught against Islam.”
Awami League lawmaker Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim took the floor on point of order after question-answer hour and condemned the message of Zawahiri.
He said there is no difference between Jamaat and al-Qaeda.
The AL leader termed BNP-Jamaat as collaborator of Taleban and said the conspirators want to turn Bangladesh as a militant and Taleban state.
He asked the diplomats not to interference in the internal matters of Bangladesh and warned that the government would be compelled bound to take tougher action if they failed to do it.
Minister for Health and Family Welfare Mohammad Nasim said the message of Zawahiri has been released to create panic among the people of the country.
He said they came to know that the draft of the message was written in Bengali and questioned whether it was written by Afghan-based al-Qaeda or their local agents.
The government has to find out the mystery behind it to save the government from conspiracy, he said.
The AL leader called upon the BNP chairperson to acknowledge her mistake and come forward to democracy by shunning relations with Jamaat.
Minister for Agriculture Motia Chowdhury termed Khaleda Zia as Lady Laden and Tarique Rahman as junior Laden.
She claimed that Zawahiri had visited to Bangladesh for thrice when BNP-Jamaat alliance was in power.
The statement has been released to hamper the activities of the government of consensus and to bring enthusiasm among their party activists.
Moinuddin Khan Badal of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Inu) and Najibul Boshar Maijbhandari of Tarikat Federation also took part in the discussion.
Some lawmakers including former minister for foreign affairs Dr Dipu Moni took part in the discussion on thanks giving motion on the address of the President.
