3280 pry schools eligible to be upgraded to Class VIII

Some 3,280 primary schools in the country are eligible for upgrading to Class VIII according to a feasibility study conducted as per the recommendation of the National Education Policy 2010.
Primary and Mass Education Minister Mostafizur Rahman stated this in Parliament on Sunday, responding to a scripted question of ruling Awami League MP M Abdul Latif (Chittagong-11).He informed the House that as recommended in the Education Policy, the work is continuing to upgrade the primary education level to Class VIII from the existing Class V.
The minister said that as part of its implementation, the curriculum of Class VI was introduced in 491 primary schools in 491 upazilas/thanas in 2013. This year, the curriculum of Class VII was also introduced in these schools.
In 2014, the curriculum of Class VI was introduced in another 155 primary schools, he added. – UNB
