Police arrested two BNP activists, who are siblings, from Dhopakhali village in Kachua upazila early Friday for their alleged involvement in torching a Hindu temple.
The arrestees were identified as Mosharaf Hossain, 35, and his younger brother Refazul Hossain, 28, son of Sekel Uddin Sheikh of the village.Officer-in-charge of Kachua Police Station M Abu Zihad Fakhrul Alam Khan said being tipped off, a team of police conducted a drive in the village early in the morning and arrested the duo.The arrestees are accused in a case filed with the police station for torching a Hindu temple and vandalising idol of a Hindu goddess in the village.Miscreants torched Harichand Mandir (temple) and vandalised an idol at nearby Mansa Mandir in Dhopakhali village on Wednesday night.Later, on Thursday, a man named Noni Gopal Sarkar filed a case against some unidentified people. -UNB, Bagerhat
